Reflection
RECOGNITION
Leadership Impact
St. Lawrence College
2023
I received multiple nominations for the Leadership Impact Award in 2023 and graciously accepted the recognition in great part because it came from faculty and colleagues. The nominations letters highlighted my efforts in creating innovative programming for faculty/staff and commitment to values-based leadership in to fostering transformational change across the institution.
Distinguished Administrator Award
Ontario College Administrative Staff Association
2021
My nomination for this provincial leadership award was exclusively written and submitted by my own team members working within the School of Contemporary Teaching & Learning (SCTL). Although the award was given to a senior executive at another college with many more years of experience, the nomination meant a great deal to me as it came from the individuals who would know me best - my own team.
Award of Merit - Departmental
St. Lawrence College
2020
This nomination materialized at the height of the COVID-19 pandemic as Academic Centres across HigherEd were thrust into the world of "remote teaching" alongside our talented faculty colleagues. As the Associate Dean for the School of Contemporary Teaching & Learning (SCTL) , I worked alongside our team to create a strong digital infrastructure with training and support to guide this difficult transition. Our collective work as a team was recognized by many educators as we received nominations highlighting our commitment to service excellence during this challenging time.
Award of Merit - Individual
St. Lawrence College
2020
In addition of receiving a team nomination for the Award of Merit in 2020, I was also notified that I received other nominations that highlighted my work with the Contemporary Educator program (CEP). This program was designed to support new full-time faculty in their teaching during the first two years as an educator. As the lead facilitator, I supported these faculty during the move to "remote teaching" by re configuring the program to meet their needs and continued to support them in 1on1 consultations. The nominations for this award were written by members of the CEP program as a form of gratitude for my contribution to their ongoing practice. Although I was touched by the nomination, I asked the college to bestow the award to the larger department by integrating my nomination for "award of merit / service excellence" into one.
Leadership Excellence
St. Lawrence College
2019
I received this nomination at the end of my 5 year anniversary at St.Lawrence College. The recognition that I received for this nomination had a positive impact on my development as an academic leader as it provided me with personal insights into how leaders (at all levels) have the ability to impact excellence. Although I did not receive the final award, the narrative provided within the nomination letters gave me hope that I was having an impact on faculty/staff.
Emerging Leaders Under 35
Ontario Chamber of Commerce - Ontario Economic Summit
2018
The College Executive Team (President & CEO and Vice-Presidents) at St. Lawrence College nominated me for an Emerging Leaders Under 35 award in 2018. The award was to be presented during the Ontario Economic Summit but I was unable to attend as I had a conflicting Board Meeting with OntarioLearn. Although I was not able to accept the award, the recognition from senior leadership and the college community was meaningful as it confirmed that I was making a positive impact in the realm of higher education.
Queen's Graduate Award
Queen's University
2006 & 2007
I was granted this award based on a recommendation from the advisory committee at Queen's University based on my graduate application and research interest. I would later complete my graduate degree in Sociology with a dissertation entitled "Restoration or Retribution: An Empirical Examination of the Recidivistic Patterns of a Group of Young Offenders from New York City".
