André's Journal
Offline
I began journaling at the start of my career in higher education in 2006. It became a way for me to reflect on my practice and see how I could improve my approach to supporting all learners.
A core memory of this effort was when I was a Teaching Assistant at Queen's University coordinating seminar sessions for a large introductory sociology course. I would use a type of feedback mechanism (e.g., stop, start, continue) to gather feedback on my practice after each session. This feedback would then be incorporated into a physical binder where I would ask myself - what went well and what could be better?
While the digital portfolio has become the primary archiving strategy for these journaling activities, I still own my physical binder at home and try to write every so often to capture elements of my teaching, educational development, and leadership.
